Uten profesjonell vurdering av maskiner og\/eller maskiner hender det ofte at selskaper blir underforsikrede eller overforsikrede. I mangel av en forsikringsvurdering kan forsikringsselskapet ditt, i tilfelle skade, tilbakebetale den faktiske kontantverdien i stedet for erstatningsverdien for maskiner n\u00e5r eiendeler er underforsikrede. For fast eiendom er det en mulighet for underforsikring, hvor du kun mottar erstatning for deler av skaden. Ved overforsikring vil forsikringsselskapet utbetale gjenoppbyggingsverdien og\/eller den nye verdien for \u00e5 reparere skaden. Forsikringsselskapet vil imidlertid bruke dette som et maksimum og ikke det maksimale bel\u00f8pet som forsikringen er tegnet for.
