Sans une \u00e9valuation professionnelle des b\u00e2timents et \/ ou des machines, il arrive souvent que les entreprises soient sous-assur\u00e9es ou sur-assur\u00e9es. En l&#8217;absence d&#8217;une \u00e9valuation d&#8217;assurance, lorsqu&#8217;elle est sous-assur\u00e9e, votre compagnie d&#8217;assurance peut, en cas de dommage, rembourser la valeur r\u00e9elle en esp\u00e8ces au lieu de la valeur de remplacement des machines. Pour les biens immobiliers, il existe une probabilit\u00e9 de sous-assurance et vous ne serez indemnis\u00e9 que pour une partie des dommages. En cas de sur-assurance, la compagnie d&#8217;assurance paiera la valeur de reconstruction et \/ ou la valeur \u00e0 neuf pour couvrir la totalit\u00e9 des dommages. La compagnie d&#8217;assurance utilisera toutefois cette valeur comme un maximum et non comme le montant maximum pour lequel l&#8217;assurance a \u00e9t\u00e9 souscrite.
